AI use
Last updated October 9, 2026
We use AI tools to help make Hatchnight. We don't use AI on you: no AI decides anything about players, reads your activity, or gets trained on your data.
Where we use AI
- Art. The beasts, eggs, pen themes, hats and other game sprites were made with an AI image model (a GPT Image model, through the Higgsfield platform). Every image was generated from an original style reference we created, then chosen, checked and resized by our team. This is our disclosure that these images are AI-generated.
- Writing and code. Some of the game's code, text and documents (including drafts of these pages) were written with help from an AI coding assistant (Anthropic's Claude). Our team reviews and tests what ships.
Where we don't
- No AI decisions about you. Hatches, raid maps, weather and rewards use a secure random number generator and fixed game rules, the same for everyone.
- No AI chat or characters. Everything other players say comes from a fixed phrase list.
- No player data in AI tools. Nothing you do in the game is sent to an AI service, and your data isn't used to train any AI model.
- No AI moderation decisions. Reports are reviewed by people.
