For parents

Hatchnight is a cozy creature-collecting game rated for everyone. When someone says they're under 13 on the first screen, the game turns on extra protections automatically.
What's different for players under 13
- No personal information. We don't ask for a name, email, photo or location. The game uses a random player ID and a random name like "MossPaw482".
- No free-text chat. Everyone, at every age, can only send phrases from a fixed list like "Nice beast!".
- Friends by code only. Nobody can add an under-13 player from the Grove list; they have to swap friend codes, ideally with people they know.
- Safer trading. Under-13 players can trade only with friends, at most 5 trades a day, and lopsided trades are refused.
- No purchases. The store is turned off for under-13 players.
- No ads, no tracking. There are no adverts or third-party trackers anywhere in Hatchnight.
About night raids
At night, players can sneak into each other's pens and take one beast, in a short stealth mini-game. It's playful (think "bonk", not combat), and losses are capped: at most two a night, one shielded beast can't be taken, and the next night you can raid back. Some kids find losing a beast upsetting at first; shields and traps help.
What we keep
A random player ID, the age range, game progress, friends, blocks and reports. See the Privacy policy for details and how long we keep things.
Deleting your child's player
In the game, open the Store (bag button) and choose Delete my player: it's deleted straight away. Or email privacy@hatchnight.com with the friend code shown in the game (Friends button) and we'll delete it within 30 days. You can also simply clear the browser's site data, which signs the player out on that device.
